Let’s start this indagation with “Wide Right,”
And decades slide by like a carousel
But before arousal, before the well
Had dried and flooded, had darkened alight:
I was Floridian, and football mine,
Whether college, pro, or high school, I lived
That function of Miami nights relived
Under the steady sway of the goaline:
But stand firm to the present, your goals, dreams
To stand over your Miamian night
As moons over earth—true orbit despite,
And to loosen languages from their seams:
Is now your real, your imagination.
